Port Authority of New York & New Jersey Expert Environmental Engineering Services Term Contract

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey provides transportation, terminal and other trade and commerce facilities within a 1,500-square-mile district that includes over 200 municipalities. The authority manages and/or operates all of the region’s major commercial airports — Newark Liberty International, John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia —along with marine terminals, interstate tunnels and bridges in both states that serve as vital “Gateways to the Nation.”

Since 2011 TRC has provided professional environmental engineering services to the authority under two consecutive, multimillion-dollar contracts. We have completed over 100 assignments throughout the port district, including the successful closure of more than 10 complex petroleum spill areas in New York that eliminated redevelopment barriers.

TRC’s broad range of services have included environmental due diligence; stormwater sampling and permitting; soil and groundwater investigation; remedial investigation, design and construction services; remediation system operation and maintenance support; SPCC plan preparation; emergency response; tank enclosure investigation and removal oversight; PCB remediation with Environmental Protection Agency-compliant work plans and reporting; regulatory compliance auditing; litigation support; and asbestos surveys and cost estimating for environmental investigations and remediation.

We have provided services throughout a wide variety of facilities, including the following:

• Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) and closure services for a historic fuel oil spill at the Port Newark Container Terminal in Newark, NJ
• Design and oversight of implementation of an investigation and cleanup of PCB-impacted concrete and soil within the transformer area at the Military Ocean Terminal in Bayonne, NJ
• LSRP and closure services in connection with an underground storage tank test failure at the Lincoln Tunnel Administration Building in Weehawken, NJ
• Environmental site assessment and investigation services in connection with replacement of the Goethals Bridge that connects Elizabeth, NJ to Staten Island, NY
