Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA)
When navigating the funding mechanisms and nuances of the legislation, it is important to work with partners who understand your industry and can help plan, validate and execute projects.
TRC has aligned its strategic focuses for IIJA/BIL based on the areas of funding available and our areas of expertise. These align around transportation infrastructure, accessibility and connectivity, and climate and sustainability.
Accessibility and Connectivity
- Broadband Infrastructure
- Power Grid Modernization
Climate and Sustainability
- Environmental Remediation
- Resiliency and Emergency Preparedness
- Bridge Investment
- Rail and Transit
TRC is a leader in integrated solutions covering all the bases from project feasibility studies to grant writing to agency coordination and consultation to engineering and design to procurement.
With no bridges with a “Good” condition rating in the US, bridge investment programs are a priority. An influx of new bridge projects and more available funding means smaller bridges will also be eligible for IIJA funding.
From conceptual studies, to safety inspection and load ratings, on through design and construction, TRC has the expertise to address your most critical infrastructure needs.
Broadband and Telco Infrastructure
More than 30 million Americans live in areas where broadband infrastructure is unacceptable to support the needs of the community, and the IIJA-funded projects and grants target to close that gap.
TRC delivers a full range of engineering, routing, permitting, survey and design support for telecommunication projects, including: public and private wireline and wireless networks; utility operations networks; public safety and first responder communications; IT/OT network security and regulatory/ NERC CIP compliance; and fiber broadband networks.
GHG Reduction, Hydrogen and Electric Vehicles
A considerable amount of money from the IIJA will go towards the new Carbon and Hydrogen economy in the form of R&D and technology demonstrations, as well as large-scale, permanent infrastructure.
As a trusted advisor to the energy industry for more than 50 years, TRC specializes in program management, engineering, regulatory, right-of-way, environmental and construction solutions, helping you plan, develop and implement your decarbonization and sustainability projects on-time and on-budget.
Environmental Clean-up and Remediation
From cleaning up the nation’s water supply to addressing legacy pollution to pushing toward environmental equity, the IIJA is the largest-ever funding mechanism.
TRC integrates our industry-leading expertise in characterization, remediation, toxicology, forensics, regulations, and strategic planning to deliver practical and creative solutions for mitigating environmental risks. Our expertise includes Brownfields redevelopment and solutions around PFAS and emerging contaminants.
Power Transmission and Distribution Modernization
IIJA funding is going toward the repair, expansion, resiliency, reliability and efficiency of existing power grids. Transmission is a focus area to finance new and critical backlogged projects. This area includes technology, demonstration projects, modernizations efforts and various grants for energy efficiency projects.
TRC understands the electric utility market and the technical and regulatory issues faced when pursuing new projects. We implement design, engineering, survey, permitting, testing and commissioning, construction and compliance solutions for complex initiatives, including transmission, distribution, substations, protection and controls, energy efficiency and distributed energy resources
Rail and Transit
With $89.9 billion in guaranteed funding to modernize public transit over the next five years, the IIJA is the largest Federal investment in public transit in history.
TRC offers construction management services, program management, inspection and design with local relationships and presence via our network of more than 150 offices nationwide.
Emergency Preparedness and Coastal Resiliency
The IIJA seeks to repair areas of the US that have been ravaged by various natural disasters and harden them against future disasters.
TRC leads transformative projects, including emergency response and planning, hardening stormwater management, remediation and containment systems, coastal infrastructure rehabilitation, and physical and cybersecurity. From leveraging innovative technologies to striving for sustainable outcomes, we are committed to delivering the most tangible, sustainable, and cost-effective options available.
IIJA leans toward longer-term, impactful projects
Prioritization and sequencing will be important for those seeking funding.
