Environmental Compliance

NEPA

Integrated, expert and strategic solutions to successfully navigate NEPA compliance and move projects forward.

Preparing Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements

We understand the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the variety of NEPA compliance approaches followed by different federal agencies. Our staff have years of experience supporting clients proposing projects of all types to complete the stakeholder engagement, consideration of alternatives, and thorough assessment of potential environmental and community impacts that may be associated with a project. We understand the importance of working with clients to creatively develop project solutions that minimize impacts, thus allowing the project to fulfill NEPA process with the minimum appropriate class of action.

Our deep knowledge of project design and construction, especially in the energy and transportation sectors, allows us to focus on impacts most relevant to the specific Lead Federal Agency resources and concerns and support efficient NEPA compliance by offering modifications when problems arise during the review process.

Through the preparation of hundreds of NEPA compliant documents, we have provided services that include:

  • Evaluating potential impacts on the environment
  • Considering various project alternatives
  • Providing recommendations to avoid, minimize and/or mitigate environmental impacts
  • Address comments raised by stakeholders—federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, landowners and the public at large

TRC looks forward to supporting successful and efficient NEPA compliance for your project with our integrated team of engineers, scientists and planners. We are currently working with a number of clients in the energy transition, power and renewables market to assist with the preparation of NEPA documents required for specific Department of Energy (DOE) Funding sources. We have the experts to address the NEPA baseline and impact assessment as determined by DOE funding source, and can also address the Community Benefit Plan (CBP) requirements.
