Cape Wind - Environmental Impact Statement and Permitting

TRC lead the Environmental Impact Statement analysis and submittals associated with the first proposed offshore wind project in North America.

Our technical strategy was developed in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act requirements and included close coordination with BOEM, the Army Corps of Engineers and various stakeholder groups. This collaboration was essential for determining a prudent and precedent setting permitting approach for a “first of its kind” project.

Our role included organizing and participating in public hearings and the coordination of the 42,000 documents received during the public comment periods. We completed the first regulatory filings that described the potential impacts that offshore wind development would have on environmental and societal resources including for cultural and historic, marine life, water and air quality, birds, navigation, visual, and recreation and tourism.
