4.5 Days | 31 PDHs | Cost: $1,500
The AC/DC Commissioning course covers various types of AC and DC circuits in a power substation and provides safe work practices and processes emphasizing HP tools for effectively testing and commissioning these circuits in a field project.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
- Field Engineers and Technicians
- Commissioning Engineers and Technicians
- Protective Relay Engineers and Technicians
- Individuals seeking to refresh their commissioning skills
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Safely use digital multimeters to conduct the commissioning processes.
- Describe the commissioning process.
- Perform the following processes for AC & DC control circuits:
- Conductivity checks
- Shorts and Ground Checks
- DC commissioning of control circuits, relays and lockouts
- CT secondary circuit current injection
LEARNING EXPERIENCE
- This is not a “sit in your seat” lecture class; it is designed to be a hands-on lab experience where you will gain confidence in performing the steps for the commissioning tasks in a safe environment.
- 75% of the course is ‘hands-on’ learning experience; students will perform the steps for circuit commissioning with oversight and guidance from facilitators.
- FR clothing is required for this class.
PREREQUISITES
- Basic understanding of power system protection theory and application.
- Working knowledge of AC and DC circuits and terminology.
- Experience reading and interpreting substation electrical schematics and drawings.
