PFAS Concerns for Permitting & Biosolids in New York State Webinar

Nov 07, 2023 6:00 PM

Webinar

New York State is progressing quickly to understand and manage PFAS. This webinar will focus on the NPDES/SPDES process currently underway in the state of New York in regard to PFAS. Attendees will also hear about the proposed biosolids PFAS land application rules and implications to industries and municipalities.

TRC will present updates on the following topics:

  • Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) PFAS Reporting and Recordkeeping which will require manufacturers, importers and importers of articles to provide data for their PFAS activities for the 2011-2022 lookback period by May 2025
  • Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) elimination of the de minimis reporting exemption for TRI-listed PFAS which will trigger:
    • Supplier Notifications/updated Safety Data Sheets for products that will be provided to facilities throughout 2024
    • PFAS TRI reporting for Reporting Year 2024 due July 2025 for many products that contain small amounts of PFAS, increasing the number of reports for existing reporters and requiring reports for many facilities that are not currently submitting TRI reports
  • Proposed EPA PFAS Framework which will change manufacturers/importers use of Pre-Manufacture Notifications, Consent Orders, Significant New Use Rules and Low-Volume Exemptions
  • How these chemical reporting regulatory changes affect your organization’s PFAS Risk Strategy and how you can prepare

Mark Robinson, Market Director, will present with guest commentary from Dr. Robert Hanley, Senior Consultant, and Elizabeth Denly, Vice President, PFAS Initiative Leader & Chemistry Director

Panel:

  • Elizabeth Denly – PFAS Initiative Leader & Chemistry Director, TRC
  • Michelle Young – Lead Technologist, Carollo
  • Edward Hampston – Director, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), Division of Water
