Chlorinated Solvents 101

Chlorinated solvents are a family of chemical compounds present in industrial chemicals used commonly in cleaning and production of a variety of materials and products. These solvents can pose adverse environmental and health impacts by contaminating soil, groundwater and surface water and releasing toxins into the atmosphere. This presentation provides an overview of chlorinated solvents, common industry usage, fate and transport in the environment along with investigation, characterization and remediation strategies.

Jenny Phillips, Director of Technical Development, VP – Jenny Phillips leads the Technical Development Unit of TRC, focusing on Emerging Contaminants. She is an expert in human health and ecological risk assessment with a focus in risk communication and stakeholder discussions.
