PG&E NERC Mitigation Projects

Engineering design services for more than 1,300 spans across more than 71 EHV transmission lines including 70 kV, 115 kV, and 230 kV lines.

When a California utility needed a creative, cost-effective solution to fix NERC infractions they turned to TRC’s experts for support. Our team provided mitigation engineering design solutions for more than 1,300 spans across more than 71 EHV transmission lines to address issues including wood and steel pole design, modifications of steel lattice towers for the correction of NERC clearance discrepancies, resolution of existing over-tensioning issues and removal of idle lines. These projects also included complex distribution underbuilt upgrades.

We delivered recommendations for correction and reconstruction packages for 70 kV, 115 kV and 230 kV lines. Our team has managed a total of 284 submittals, many happening concurrently.

Our solutions have helped the client successfully meet a very tight construction window, five months ahead of the original schedule, resulting in nearly $500,000 savings in mobile generator costs.
