TRC was contracted by a Class1 Railway to provide comprehensive environmental services for multiple parcels of land (140+ acres located on 55 parcels) located at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach in California.

TRC’s scope of work involved the performance of Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments, Phase 2 soil and groundwater sampling, corrective action planning, waste management, asbestos-lead-PCB surveys and abatement, construction oversight, and budgetary planning. TRC worked extensively and proactively with the Port of Los Angeles, numerous property owners, regulatory agencies, construction management and infrastructure firms, numerous consultants, and oil companies and utilities located with the rights-of-way.

On a daily basis, TRC managed and updated an electronic reporting database (Virtual Project Manager) to keep all affected parties up-to-date on the progress of the work. Constituents of concern included petroleum hydrocarbons, asbestos, metals, semi-volatile organic compounds, and pesticides.

Future work will include an additional assessment, health risk assessments and remediation.
