TRC also was awarded the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Award for completing five strategic acquisitions.
The 50 Year Award highlights TRC for expanding to nearly 7,000 employees across 140 offices worldwide and generating more than $1 billion in revenue in 2022. Starting as The Research Corporation of New England, incorporated in 1969, TRC has spent half a century providing cutting edge professional services in the engineering and consulting realm. The EBJ also honored TRC with the M&A Business Achievement Award for achieving strong organic growth and completing five strategic acquisitions following investment by Warburg Pincus in 2021. Acquisitions by TRC in 2022 included: United Sciences Testing, Inc. (USTI) in air emissions audits and testing; ESS Group in power and renewable energy and coastal engineering; consulting & engineering firm Draper Aden; Blue Oak Energy in solar and solar energy storage; and MagikMinds in enterprise GIS.

Environmental Business Journal solicited nominations for the EBJ Business Achievement Awards. Nominations were accepted in specific categories. Final awards were determined by a committee of EBJ staff, EBJ editorial advisory board members and regular contributors. The 2022 EBJ awards will be presented live and in-person at the EBJ Business Achievement Awards banquet at Environmental Industry Summit XXI on March 22-24, 2023, in San Diego.
