El Cajon, California
The project involves the expansion of the existing San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) East County Bus Maintenance Facility located in El Cajon, California. The facility consists of fueling stations, maintenance and administration buildings, bus wash and parking for buses and staff. The project will expand the existing site to include a compressed natural gas fueling station to improve operational efficiency and reduce air pollution, as well as update existing buildings, including the bus wash and administration offices. Bus and staff parking will be re-configured for maximum efficiency. Having adequate facilities in the East County will reduce contractor risk and the cost to operate the MTS service. It will also improve on time performance and service reliability for transit customers.
