Innovative, market-based solutions for greater efficiency and occupant comfort
Commercial buildings account for more than 30% of national electricity consumption. TRC has partnered with the California Energy Commission and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to research new scalable, cost-effective solutions across this sector to maximize their energy savings.
As part of large industry teams, we have demonstrated the technical viability and market scalability of integrated technology packages – working with technologies like HVAC, lighting and plug load controls; smart daylight harvesting; building software platforms; and advanced metering. Our project partners include Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Kaiser Permanente, Walmart, UC Berkeley, and utilities.
The projects provide important benefits like cost savings for building owners, greater grid reliability through shifting peak energy use and greenhouse gas emission reductions.
