Glenwood Landing NY RE POWER® Project

National Grid planned to decommission its 200 MW Glenwood Landing Generating Site in accordance with approved plans. National Grid required Owner’s Engineering Services for abatement, decommissioning, demolition and restoration of this site, which is located on the shores of Long Island Sound in a residential community. The project scope includes rerouting of high voltage transmission lines from the roof of the generating station and comprehensive permitting.

TRC provided Owner’s Engineering Services including program and project management, structural surveys, asbestos and regulated materials surveys, SEQRA environmental assessment, asset valuations, environmental site assessments, power delivery engineering, permitting, closure of cooling water structures, plans and specifications and procurement support services. National Grid issued these detailed plans and specifications for bid to qualified contractors. National Grid and TRC evaluated fixed price proposals prior to awarding a contract.

Safety is our highest priority, and National Grid and TRC completed the design and procurement phases of this project with ZERO incidents or accidents. National Grid and TRC developed a detailed scope of work, a baseline schedule and cost estimate, including a significant credit for scrap and salvage value. During the procurement phase, National Grid was able to pre-qualify contractors and obtain competitive bids based on a defined scope of work and implementation schedule. During the construction phase, TRC provided resident inspection services to ensure compliance with safety, environmental and contract requirements.
