As PFAS regulations evolve, biosolids management practices are changing across the United States. Restrictions on land application have increased the volume of biosolids directed to landfills, creating new operational and environmental challenges for landfill operators.
This webinar will examine the real-world impacts of PFAS-related biosolids disposal, drawing on a case study where biosolids were redirected from land application to landfill disposal. Attendees will learn how this change affected landfill operations, including odor control, leachate management and stability considerations.
The presentation will also highlight the results of a waste bulking study designed to improve handling of biosolids with high liquid content. Participants will leave with a better understanding of effective biosolids management strategies and the collaborative relationships needed between wastewater treatment plants and landfills.
Attendees will learn:
- How PFAS regulations are changing biosolids disposal practices
- Key landfill challenges associated with high liquid biosolids
- Waste bulking strategies to improve biosolids handling
- Best practices for coordination between wastewater treatment plants and landfills
