Project

Primary Transmission Control Center Hardening

Utility, USA

TRC conducted a threat and vulnerability assessment (TVA) and developed a site-specific security plan for this NERC CIP-014-regulated facility.

Challenge

This electric transmission facility is in a gentrifying urban setting. To accommodate the neighborhood, detailed designs and planning required community input. This resulted in the installation one mile of high-security fencing and improvements to the building façade. Additionally, past land uses had impacted soils onsite which needed to be properly disposed of or handled in an environmentally responsible manner.

Solution

TRC’s security experts and civil engineers, planning and permitting specialists, environmental remediation engineers, structural engineers worked seamlessly to design, permit and construct the multiple security upgrades needed for this critical facility.

The TVA identified the need to improve perimeter security and harden the control center from extreme events.

Results

After multiple assignments with this client, TRC recently executed a Master Services Agreement to provide ongoing support across many facets of the organization. For some projects, we server as an advisor, others we provide design or research a topic and bring in various outside experts.
