Challenge: Source and Procure Quality Materials and Equipment for Mega Projects

Kiewit Corporation is one of North America’s largest construction and engineering organizations. The firm operates a complex global sourcing and procurement program to support its various engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) joint venture partnerships.

Through a long-term partnership, TRC supports Kiewit’s sourcing and procurement efforts for a wide range of components and materials needed for mega EPC projects in infrastructure and commercial building, water treatment, power generation, liquefied natural gas (LNG) processing and petrochemical facility expansion projects.

Solution: Industry Leading Factory Acceptance Testing, Supplier Audits and Materials Sourcing

We deliver supply chain support solutions to Kiewit under two separate and ongoing Master Service Agreements (MSA). The first was established in 2013 for EPC projects in the USA and the second began in in 2020 for projects in Canada. Both are managed and directed by Kiewit’s centralized Supply Network and Procurement Support Division.

Our support for Kiewit mega projects includes sourcing and procuring a wide range of pressure equipment components such as pumps, valves, fittings, piping, dished head vessels, flow control devices, actuators and fully contained modular process units.

For power generation projects specifically, we also lead factory acceptance testing (FAT) and periodic audits of electrical component suppliers for products including polymer insulators, surge protectors, transformers, motors, fans, turbines, solar panels and related electrical control panels.

In addition, our team provides support for mega infrastructure and commercial building projects including technical services related to the international sourcing of structural steel, bridge bearings, erection equipment, prestress tendons, gratings, heavy lift gantry, and overhead cranes. We source construction materials and project components including carbon steels, low and high alloy steel, aluminum, carbon fiber composites, fiberglass and other nonmetal products such as rubber and polymers.

Through these MSAs, TRC has helped source materials from more than 35 countries.
