Modernizing Cathodic Protection Inspections with the ArcGIS Utility Network

  • Citizens Energy Group has modernized its compliance and cathodic protection (CP) inspection workflows by implementing ArcGIS Utility Network with CP subnetworks and ArcGIS Field Maps. Now, creating and managing inspections is completed exclusively with Field Maps and fed back to the office and into the utility network. Leveraging the Utility and Pipeline Data Model (UPDM), Citizens took advantage of the default CP inspection tables, expediting development within the UN and Field Maps forms, and integrating the cathodic protection subnetwork to support compliance efforts.

Using OCM Principals to Minimize the Impact of Esri GIS Modernization

  • Tacoma Power is a municipal utility that has historically used GE Smallworld. In 2021 we started a project to migrate our entire mapping platform to the Esri AcrGIS Utility Network (UN). This session will detail how we utilized a Organizational Change Management (OCM) framework to support their UN migration including stakeholder analysis, targeted communications, demos, and training. By fostering a culture of collaboration and adaptability, we ensured that the migration not only met technical requirements, but also aligned with organizational goals, leading to a seamless and efficient transformation.
