Construction Management for New 115kV Transmission Line

January 1, 2019

Along with a new 115kV transmission line, a 115kV terminal with breakers was managed through TRC’s construction management team. Environmental inspections were performed by TRC staff through the construction process.

This project was comprised of approximately 39 miles of new 115kV transmission lines starting at Wyman Hydro Substation in Moscow and ending at Heywood Road Substation in Benton.

The scope of work included detailed regulatory approval, permitting, design, project management, on-site environmental services and construction management support.

This project enhanced the integration of renewable generation in Western Maine. Additionally, this project increased system reliability and transfer capability in the local Somerset County area including the surrounding towns of Benton, Clinton, Waterville and Winslow. The project also reduced line losses by 4-6MW under peak load conditions. The work on this project was crucial in order to accommodate the future integration of wind-generated electricity.
