Project
Our Team Facilitated A Multichannel Outreach And Education Program To Spotlight The Impact Of CEC-funded Research And Development Projects.
Challenge: Raise Visibility Around Emerging Solutions that Can Address California’s Climate Challenges and Bolster Grid Resiliency
California has long been on frontline of climate change, grappling with intensifying wildfires and prolonged droughts that underscore the urgent need for deeper decarbonization. It is imperative to modernize our energy infrastructure to meet these growing challenges with resilience, equity, and reduced carbon emissions. To achieve this, the California Energy Commission (CEC) dedicates over $150 million annually to research in scientific and technological advancements that support the development of innovative technologies crucial for transitioning to a sustainable, low-carbon energy economy.
In support of these efforts, our team led a coalition of expert organizations – including Frontier Energy, Sensis Agency, Larta Institute, and Casamar Group – to enhance the visibility and impact of CEC’s Electric Program Investment Charge (EPIC). The EPIC campaign plays a pivotal role in fostering emerging solutions that address the pressing energy challenges of the 21st century.
Solutions: Foster Market Education Through an Educational Event Series and Information-Rich Website
EPIC Forums & Symposiums
Our project team supported CEC in hosting thousands of clean tech innovators at EPIC forums, tours, and symposiums to learn about emerging technologies, share best practices, and connect about future projects. Our role included:
- Logistics: Vendor contracts, registration and staffing
- Marketing: Attendee outreach and media relations
- Programming: Session design, technology transfers, pitch competitions, exhibitors
- Speaker Management: Securing prominent speakers such as DOE Secretary Jennifer Granholm and Governor Gavin Newsom
Energize Innovation Website
Our project team developed a content-rich website showcasing CEC-funded research and technology activities. This platform enables clean energy stakeholders to learn about and connect with organizations driving innovation in California’s energy sector. The website includes:
- Educational Resources: In-depth insights into key energy innovation investments
- Searchable Database: Access to hundreds of CEC-funded projects and profiles of innovation partners
- EPIC Event Series: Comprehensive details on speakers and event presentations
Results: Educate Thousands of Clean Energy Stakeholders
Over the course of the project, our team increased awareness of the EPIC program to clean energy stakeholders through the series of educational events —which were hosted in-person and virtually—and the development of the Energize Innovation website, which hosted important program details and a searchable database featuring hundreds of CEC-funded projects.
