Challenge

A book publishing firm generates air emissions and hazardous waste due to its bookend spraying operations. As a result, the firm is subject to annual Air Emission Inventory reporting and Hazardous Waste reporting requirements mandated by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR). With limited internal environmental staffing, the firm required external assistance to prepare and submit these reports by the compliance deadline.

Solution

Leveraging comprehensive knowledge of the facility’s operations, TRC efficiently prepared the required environmental reports. The team:

  • Reviewed emission records and performed calculations to assess both criteria pollutant and hazardous air pollutant emissions.
  • Updated the annual Air Emission Inventory Report to reflect current operational data.
  • Analyzed hazardous waste manifests to determine waste quantities and define the facility’s generator status.
  • Completed and submitted the necessary Hazardous Waste reporting forms.
  • Ensured timely submission of both the NR 438 Air Emission Inventory Report and the annual Hazardous Waste Report to the WDNR.

Results

The publishing firm successfully met its environmental compliance obligations, maintaining a high standard in regulatory reporting. TRC has become a trusted partner, supporting the client with additional environmental services including air permitting and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know-Act (EPCRA) reporting
