TRC’s Richard Burke Appointed to Board of Trustees of The Academy of Board Certified Environmental Professionals

LOWELL, MA — (November 2, 2015) – TRC Companies, Inc., a national engineering, environmental consulting and construction management firm, is pleased to announce that Richard Burke, a Practice Leader in Irvine, California, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees for the Academy of Board Certified Environmental Professionals (ABCEP.)  The ABCEP is a leading organization certifying environmental professionals, maintaining exemplary standards of ethics and technical practice and supporting individuals, their profession and the public who rely upon their services.

Richard Burke has over 35 years of experience in managing environmental planning, permitting and compliance practices, and in serving major TRC clients in the capacity of technical, project and program management. He provides environmental services to local, state and federal government agencies, and private organizations and has provided training on implementing environmental requirements.

Mr. Burke has particular experience leading teams that enable clients to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other state and federal environmental regulations. As a Certified Environmental Professional, Richard promotes best practices for environmental management and teaches an advanced degree class in CEQA and NEPA at Loyola Marymount University.

About the ABCEP

The Academy of Board Certified Environmental Professionals is a voluntary association headed by a Board of Trustees. The Board is composed of twelve at-large elected members from the environmental field and one ex-officio member, all of which are members of ABCEP and are CEPs in good standing. Through a committee management structure, Trustees conduct strategic planning, establish policy and procedures, prepare and implement plans and play an active role in building the success of ABCEP and its CEP Membership. Management of ABCEP is conducted using both standing committees and ad-hoc committees.  Six committees were established to begin formulating implementation plans for advancing ABCEPs strategic priorities. Committees established include: Membership Services, Pre CEP, Certification Review Board, Marketing/Recognition, Communications and the Executive Team.
