TRC’s Liz Denly, Vice President, PFAS Initiative Leader & Chemical Director, will present insights on evaluating various methods for PFAS analysis in consumer products and their implications for assessments. The study focuses on quantifying PFAS or fluorine content in three distinct consumer products using techniques such as total fluorine, total inorganic fluoride, solvent extraction and leachate analyses to determine PFAS presence and bioavailability to consumers. Additionally, she will discuss the strengths and limitations of each method and how data interpretation can vary based on the analytical approach employed.
