But to ensure success, preparation is everything.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you\u2019re aiming for an Assessment, Cleanup or Multipurpose grant, the path to a successful application typically starts before the Federal Register announcement. From seasoned applicants to first time participants, here\u2019s what communities need to know and do\u00a0<strong>now<\/strong> to be competitive.<\/p>\n<h2>1. Get Your Credentials and System Access Information in Order<\/h2>\n<p>Before a single sentence of your grant narrative is prepared, make sure you can access the required application portals. It may seem basic, but it\u2019s easy to miss critical deadlines if your application systems aren\u2019t set up properly in advance.
