The award recognizes Paustenbach\u2019s scientific contributions in industrial hygiene and toxicology<\/p>\n

WINDSOR, Conn.<\/strong> \u2013 TRC Companies, Inc. (TRC), a global professional services firm providing integrated advisory, consulting, construction, engineering, environmental and management services in support of the energy transition, announced that Dennis Paustenbach<\/a>, Chief Scientist – Toxicology & Risk Exposure, received The ACGIH Stokinger Award. The award recognizes Paustenbach\u2019s decades of noteworthy scientific contributions to the fields of toxicology, industrial hygiene and risk assessment<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As part of the awards program, Dr. Paustenbach will deliver a lecture on \u201cLessons Learned from 20 Years of Study of the Dioxins: How Can It Impact the Regulation of PFAS Chemicals.\u201d He will discuss the toxicological and epidemiological basis for the Environmental Protection Agency\u2019s Maximum Containment Limit (MCL) for perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dr. Paustenbach is a board-certified toxicologist and industrial hygienist with nearly 40 years of experience in exposure science, health risk assessment, disease causation, chemical engineering and industrial hygiene. Prior to his role at TRC, he was president of Paustenbach & Associates and founder of ChemRisk, a leading scientific consulting firm that tackled human and environmental risk challenges. At TRC, he leads a group of Strategic Health Sciences<\/a> practitioners who conduct analyses of the health effects of chemicals in sediments, air, soil, consumer products, foods, groundwater and the workplace.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

He has been recognized for his expertise in as many as 50 occupational diseases and nearly 100 industrial chemicals, including hexavalent chromium, fluorinated chemicals (PFAS), benzene, dioxins, chlorinated solvents, asbestos, talc and formaldehyde.<\/p>\n

Dr. Paustenbach holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, an M.S. in Industrial Hygiene from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology from Purdue University. He did post-doctoral research at the Harvard School of Public Health and the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.<\/p>\n
