Ten years ago, when my first Summer Study paper for the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy on new aggregator demand response programs was accepted, it was impossible for me to imagine the range of exciting challenges and opportunities we are grappling with today.<\/p>\n

Since then, demand response graduated from a new program to a market-based resource through the demand response auction mechanism (DRAM). Energy efficiency is now being procured alongside other distributed resources to alleviate local capacity constraints.\u00a0 And our industry is seeking new and innovative ways to integrate\u00a0all<\/em>\u00a0types of advanced energy and distributed resources into the grid of the future.<\/p>\n

In this new energy world, TRC is more committed than ever to next-generation solutions for efficiency, resiliency and reliability. It is a great time to work together, whether that means getting more from our energy efficiency programs, exploring new frontiers in high performance building research, engaging better with consumers or implementing new and effective distributed energy resources and microgrid solutions.<\/p>\n

With this in mind, I am excited to join my TRC and industry colleagues at the\u00a02018 ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings\u00a0in early August. This valuable event in Pacific Grove, Calif., attracts a diverse group energy decision-makers and industry partners eager to explore innovation in technologies, strategies and programs for advanced energy.<\/p>\n

TRC looks forward to sharing new insights and lessons learned from the work we\u2019ve done in collaboration with clients and partners who share our vision for a sustainable, energized future. We encourage you to attend the TRC sessions below to learn more about space and water heating electrification, community-based distributed energy, business case models for microgrids and how cultural factors can impact energy use patterns.<\/p>\n
